I'm Orest — software architect and backend engineer, 5+ years designing distributed systems and leading engineering teams. I own delivery end to end: business requirements, architecture, implementation, production. I care more about the system holding up under real load than about the elegance of any single line of code.

This isn't just a job for me — it's a hobby. I keep learning outside work hours, and I'm drawn to the hardest, messiest problems on purpose: the ones with no clear owner, no clean spec, no obvious architecture. That's the work I actively seek out, not the work I tolerate.

At Erste Digital (Austria's largest banking group, 15M+ customers) I owned projects end to end across a 10+ microservice system — from business requirements to production. Co-founder of MMA Finds, a production mobile platform for combat sports, built solo end to end — backend, mobile, infra. Currently architecting an enterprise data pipeline platform at Datalan: Apache NiFi, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Spring Boot microservices on Kubernetes.

Started backend-first, picked up frontend out of necessity — Angular at GAMO, Next.js at Nestify, React Native at MMA Finds — enough to ship a full feature or a full product without waiting on a handoff.   Leading architecture and delivery of an enterprise data pipeline platform.

  • Own end-to-end architecture of a large-scale data pipeline platform: Apache NiFi, Kafka, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Spring Boot microservices on Kubernetes.
  • Translate business requirements from solution managers into microservice design: service boundaries, data flow, performance targets, integration contracts.
  • Delegate implementation to the team; responsible for code quality, architecture reviews, and technical standards.
  • Own the deployment pipeline to test and production — ArgoCD, GitOps.
  • Built the observability stack: OpenTelemetry Collector → Grafana/Tempo/Loki/Prometheus with W3C traceparent and MDC correlation IDs.
